DKV Electronic travel entitlement for foreigners

Jul 30, 2025, 12:21

DKV Zrt. has developed the dkvejegy.hu web shop, which enables foreigners without a Hungarian identity card to purchase electronic travel entitlements.  To use this service, you must first register on the dkvejegy.hu interface. The "Help" button provides detailed information to guide you through this process.

Registration can be completed either individually or on behalf of a company.  If you would like an invoice for your purchases, you will need to request a one-time customer code from DKV Zrt. Customer Services and enter it on the interface during registration.

It is also possible to request and record the customer code afterwards.

Registration of foreign documents and creation of their virtual customer ID

After logging in, please click on 'Foreigners' travel documents' in the drop-down menu under your profile name and register your photo ID (identity card, passport or residence permit issued by the relevant Hungarian authority).

Multiple passenger documents can be recorded under one profile, which can be a particularly useful feature for companies.

Once the document has been registered, a virtual ID and the corresponding QR code will be generated on the dkvejegy.hu website.

This virtual ID can then be used to purchase an electronic general pass or a day ticket on dkvejegy.hu.

Purchase by a registered user

As a registered user, you have the option to save the data required for your purchase in a template so that you do not have to enter them manually on each occasion.

For foreigners, the template must contain the following: your full name, email address, the electronic voucher to be purchased and the virtual ID.

It is possible to add the selected items from the template directly to the shopping cart.

Successful payment, confirmation email

You will receive an email notification confirming the purchase. This email will also contain the virtual identifier (in the X0000000000 format ) and the QR code for verification.

The email contains:

Ticket inspection

Before boarding the vehicle, passengers must present either their ID cards attached to their virtual ID or the QR code for their virtual ID, which they will have received via email.

The validation device will confirm the QR code's validity.

In accordance with the information provided by the foreign traveller via email, the ticket inspector is able to verify the type of electronic voucher purchased, its validity period, and the type of ID presented for visual inspection. The final four characters of this document are also displayed in the email.
