Tram Track Renovation Works

In order to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the tram lines, DKV Debreceni Közlekedési Zrt. will carry out track renovation works in several phases between June 15 and July 20, 2026.

TRAM TRACK RENOVATION WORKS

The company will perform rail replacement at three locations, totaling 228 track meters, before and after the Kossuth Square tram stop, as well as in front of number 23 Péterfia Street. At the Kossuth Square tram stop, the existing cracked asphalt track surface will be replaced with colored concrete pavement between the two rail replacement sections. The company will also carry out track regulation works at five locations along the Bem Square and Simonyi Street sections, totaling 144 track meters.

PHASE I: WORKS OUTSIDE OPERATING HOURS (June 15 – June 20, 2026)

From June 15, 2026, until approximately June 20, during the first phase of the renovation, track regulation works will take place after 6:00 PM and at night after the service closure, while maintaining tram traffic on Bem Square and Simonyi Street. The tram service will resume without interruption from the start of operations the next day, as no work will be carried out during the day.

Please note that the works may cause noise disturbances, so we ask for the patience of the residents in the affected area!

PHASE II: Works at Kossuth Square (June 22 – July 7, 2026)

The company has scheduled the works at Kossuth Square to coincide with the end of the school term and the start of the Campus Festival. During the construction period, from June 22 to July 7, the 1 and 2 trams will not transport passengers between the Nagyállomás and Kálvin tér stops. Travel along the entire line will only be possible with transfers. Passengers can travel to Kálvin tér using the 1V-2V tram replacement buses departing from Nagyállomás, and then transfer to the 1 tram heading towards the University and the 2 tram heading towards Doberdó utca.

PHASE III: Works at Kossuth Square and Péterfia Street (July 8-12, 2026)

The works will continue at Kossuth Square, and rail replacements will begin on the Péterfia Street section. During the works, tram traffic will be suspended along the entire line of the 1 tram, and passengers will be transported by 1V tram replacement buses. The 2 trams will continue to operate on the Kálvin tér – Doberdó utca – Kálvin tér line. The 1V tram replacement buses will provide connections between Nagyállomás and Kálvin tér for the 2 tram services arriving and departing from Kálvin tér.

Tickets can be used after transfers, but they must be validated on every vehicle.

ROAD TRAFFIC DURING THE WORKS

Participants in road traffic can expect speed restrictions and road narrowing alongside the tram line works on Péterfia utca, as well as the sections affected by the works on Bem tér and Simonyi út.
